Moving Day Blues

The next time we move offices I won't be visting a client while someone else unpacks my desk.

About 8pm the text came through, Can you go and visit the Client.

I didn't think. 9am I arrive in the office to find my desktop already set up, well sort of. There was a PC under my desk and a monitor. My wireless mouse had no receiver. This isn't my usual keyboard. The monitor was no longer a flat screen, and the PC was actually the Office XP testing PC.

My test server was also plugged in, but not on the network, which made it difficult to rdp too. After acquiring a 4 port KVM this was easy to diagnose. I asked around and acquired a Flat screen which was swapped later when it was found it didn't run the right screen mode.

My boss had acquired a spare PC which was supposed to be the Office XP Test box, but was of course my missing desktop.

So after several floor squabbling sessions, you do remember I had a client visit so I'm still in my suit GRRR, and I now have everything working. Except for email. Which crashes with a nice message to reinstall if if happens again. Anybody seen the install cd? Thought not.
