Hooray it's open
So lets see what's improved
- Disabled access to the platform, in two carriages
- New trains, erm No. Recovered seats in Waterloo and City green fleck (although they probably rebuilt the mechanicals too)
- New rails that look shiny
- Smoother journeys, erm No. Huge bumps leaving City
- Faster journey, erm No. Tonight my journey took 22 minutes, the circle line via Monument to Embankment then Bakerloo can take as little as 18mins.
- More comfort, erm No. Train was packed and still they waited to pack everyone in.
Now what confuses me is that the line closed for an additonal 11 days for driver training. Well I don't see where the time was spent, sorry drivers. I think it was more likely a PR spin to cover up for another reason.
Oh if you are reading this and catch a tube here's the two things that most annoy me.
- Stand near the doors and don't move down the corridor. Just open your eyes, there's space in the corridor, oh and heres a hint. When you don't have bodies packed all round you, its much cooler.
- Decide to get up from your seat before the train has stopped. Look its crowded, theres no room, the train is rocking and you decide to stand up into the only bit of space I have just as the driver applies the brakes. Of course I'm going to hit you with my bag when I pick it up off the floor.
Rant over, feel better now :)
Update:
The Waterloo and City line was closed at 7:40 am on Tuesday 12th September 2006. That's about 26 hours after it opened.
