Did I ever really expect the train to be any better than the tube?

Yesterday the train was 10 minutes late, I can cope with this. It was (as always) getting full on a Monday morning, still no problem. However what bugs me is that as I have a so called reduced price season ticket (£7,200), I cannot reserve a seat. Thanks Virgin. Once again I have to look at the all the tables I could do some work at, while people just sleep there.

Okay, so its Tuesday morning. I need to be in early and attend a big meeting, so instead of the 7:21 I'll catch the 6:33. Guess what. They cancel my train. The 6:33 becomes a 7:00, and then they announce that it won't arrive until 5 minutes my normal arrival time. Its fairly packed, so I haven't got chance to re-charge my phone and call the boss.

 Update:

I arrived at Euston at 8:44, I was into the office just after 9am (say 9:05). My wife doing the same journey, caught the delayed 7:21 arrived at Euston about 8:50, and sent me an email by 9:12. Thanks Virgin.

PS. Tonights we were sitting on the 7:48 when they announce we have to de-train and move platforms. It left 12 minutes late, got further delayed on the way up and finally arrived 3/4 of an hour late. So ignoring the normal cost, I spent £4 on a second car-parking ticket I didn't need and we have to pay extra to the nanny.

Oh I know what you mean... left the office at ten past five, train should have arrived at five fifteen but you guessed it - turned up at twenty past - so I finally got home at ten to six (sigh!).

Smug...?  You bet!!!
